Most people (over 85%) charge their EV at home. This is fine for those 57% with a driveway or garage, but what if you have to park in the street? One of the major reasons slowing electric car take-up is lack of charging facilities – but a British startup is convinced it has the answer.
Urban Electric has developed ‘pop-up’ charging hubs which retract fully underground when not in use, which minimises the impact on the urban streetscape. In 2018 they installed their first prototype in Oxford and are currently seeking £250K crowdfunding via Crowdcube.
